What we do

From May 2020, all accredited physiotherapy practices under contract with ACC are required to submit a claim(s) review for each claim that reaches 12 treatments. This is clause 8.3 in the contract. Clinical directors, or those therapists with the relevant qualifications can complete a claims review for each claim. Many practices around New Zealand don’t have a clinical director or staff that meet the minimum qualification requirements to process these claims reviews. This is where Claims Reviews Ltd can help.

How all it works

Contact us and one of our team will set up a time to discuss your requirements and assess your needs. We will appoint a claims reviewer(s) for your practice and discuss the necessary set up process and access to your practice management system or how we will obtain the clinical notes/relevant reports. Each practice will require an individualised set up based on your needs. We will start the reviewing process and inform you on how we are going. Depending on your practice management set up, you will see the completed reviews in the clients notes or it will be emailed through to you as a PDF. Our claim reviewers will typically spend 15-20 minutes per review, sometimes longer for complicated cases. We will stick to our area of expertise –  musculoskeletal injuries. An invoice from Claims Review Ltd will be sent to you, and you can rest easy knowing that your obligation to ACC is completed to a professional standard, independently and with full confidentiality.

OUR FEES

No cost to your practice

Once a claim review is completed, Claims Reviews Ltd will invoice you for each claim. You can then invoice ACC for the completed claim recovering the invoiced fee from us, affectively rendering the service at  no cost to your practice.

Fee $59.50 (including GST) per claim review

The completed claims are stored in your practice management system or emailed to you as a PDF. Your practice is responsible  for reviewing the claim and actioning its contents with staff as appropriate.

Our qualifications/ Our People

All our claims reviewers meet ACC standards. All therapists are New Zealand trained and qualified with a relevant physiotherapy qualification. They have a minimum of 5 years experience and post graduate qualifications in musculoskeletal physiotherapy.  The reviewers are working clinically in private physiotherapy practice and have additional training in reviewing claims. Most are involved in peer reviewing other clinicians. All have signed confidentiality agreements, ensuring your practice/ clinic’s privacy is respected.

Confidentiality and Privacy

All our claims reviewers have signed confidentiality agreements between themselves and Claims Reviews Ltd. This ensures that the reviewer is only accessing the relevant claims and your practice and its client’s privacy and confidentiality is ensured. Claims Reviews Ltd will also sign a confidentiality agreement with your practice ensuring and respecting that confidentiality.  Integrity, quality and confidentiality are all paramount for us here at Claims Reviews.

What does it cost?

$59.70 including GST. per claim review – however, your practice can invoice ACC $59.70 for the completed claim review, meaning there is affectively no cost

Who is doing the claims review?

Qualified New Zealand trained therapists, all with 5 years experience and a post graduate qualification (ACC requirements)

Are the reviewers qualified?

Yes, we ensure all our reviewers are suitably qualified with  additional training in claims reviewing from our Claims Review Ltd team.

Does my practice need to complete these reviews?

Yes it does – under the ACC contract in clause 8.3.1 all practices must complete these claims reviews between the 12th-16th visits. It is a requirement for your contract with ACC. Failing to complete  these claims reviews would mean a breach of contract.

If you access my practice management system – is my confidentiality safe?

Yes – 100% we will guarantee your confidentiality and privacy. We have signed agreements between our staff and us, and  also between  us  and you – ensuring the  reviewers’ are only accessing the clinical notes that are required.
